AI & Automated Recommendation Disclaimer

Overview

CaloriePlanning is a web app that generates automated, algorithmic recommendations to support adults pursuing body-composition goals. These recommendations include calorie and macronutrient targets, estimates of your Total Daily Energy Expenditure (TDEE) and Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR), suggested calorie deficits or surpluses, and meal or plan suggestions. Some features may also use artificial intelligence (AI) to generate or refine suggestions.

This disclaimer explains what these automated and AI-assisted outputs are, what they are not, and how you should treat them. By using CaloriePlanning, you acknowledge and agree to the points below.

How Our Recommendations Are Generated

The outputs CaloriePlanning provides are produced in two main ways:

  • Standard formulas and calculations. Many of our estimates are derived from well-established formulas used in the nutrition and fitness fields, such as Mifflin-St Jeor and Katch-McArdle for estimating BMR and TDEE. These formulas are then used to calculate suggested calorie targets, macronutrient splits, and deficits or surpluses.
  • AI-assisted suggestions. Some features may use AI to help generate, personalize, or refine suggestions, such as meal ideas or plan options.

In both cases, the outputs are generated automatically from the information you provide and from general assumptions built into the formulas and models. No human reviews your individual results before they are shown to you.

These Are General Estimates, Not Precise Truths

Our recommendations are general estimates, not exact measurements of your body or guaranteed results. The standard formulas we use were developed from population averages and cannot account for every individual difference, including genetics, medical conditions, medications, hormones, activity that falls outside typical patterns, body composition, metabolic adaptation, and many other factors.

As a result, the outputs: may be inaccurate, incomplete, or unsuitable for you as an individual; may differ from estimates produced by other tools, methods, or professionals; may not reflect changes in your body, circumstances, or needs over time; and should be treated as a starting point for your own judgment, not as a definitive answer.

AI-assisted suggestions, in particular, can sometimes be wrong, inconsistent, or not appropriate for your situation, and should be reviewed critically before you act on them.

Not Medical, Nutritional, or Professional Advice

The automated and AI-assisted outputs from CaloriePlanning are not medical, nutritional, dietary, or other professional advice, and using the app does not create any professional relationship between you and CaloriePlanning LLC. CaloriePlanning is not a medical service and is not a substitute for personalized guidance from a qualified professional. Please also read our Medical & Nutrition Disclaimer, which provides important additional information.

Your Responsibility to Evaluate and Decide

You are responsible for reviewing, evaluating, and deciding how to act on any recommendation the app provides. You should use your own judgment and, for any personal health, nutrition, fitness, or body-composition decision, consult a qualified professional who can take your individual circumstances into account.

You should not make significant changes to your diet, exercise, or health based solely on the app's automated outputs. This is especially important if you have a medical condition, are pregnant or nursing, are taking medication, have a history of disordered eating, or have any other circumstance that may affect what is safe or appropriate for you.

Accuracy Depends on Your Data

The quality and relevance of our recommendations depend heavily on the accuracy and completeness of the information you enter, such as your age, height, weight, sex, activity level, and goals. If the data you provide is inaccurate, outdated, estimated, or incomplete, the outputs you receive may be wrong or unsuitable.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, CaloriePlanning LLC is not liable for any outcomes, losses, injuries, or damages arising from your reliance on, or use of, the app's automated calculations or AI-assisted suggestions. You use these outputs at your own risk and assume full responsibility for any decisions you make based on them. This section is in addition to, and does not limit, any other limitation of liability stated in our Terms of Service.

We May Change or Improve Our Models Over Time

We may update, change, replace, or improve the formulas, calculations, models, and AI systems used in CaloriePlanning at any time and without notice. As a result, the recommendations you receive may change over time, even if your inputs stay the same.

Reporting a Concern or Suspected Error

If you believe a recommendation is inaccurate, encounter a result that seems wrong, or have a concern about how the app's automated or AI-assisted outputs work, please contact us at support@calorieplanning.com.

Changes to This Disclaimer

We may update this disclaimer from time to time. The version posted in the app or on our website is the current version, and your continued use of CaloriePlanning after any update means you accept the revised disclaimer.
